Historically, many of our target students are not informed or educated about careers in the financial services field until late in their collegiate studies. As a result, many potentially qualified students are not prepared to pursue financial services as a career choice.
The Financial Futures Foundation’s goal is early identification of these talented students so that we can open doors to future opportunities for minorities and women in the field of financial services.
The Financial Futures Youth Institute
Providing Education and More
A major initiative of The Financial Futures Foundation is an annual two week summer program in partnership with the Kenan–Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Known as the Financial Futures/Kenan-Flagler Youth Institute, this program exposes students to various concepts, occupations and education necessary to be successful in the financial services field.
In addition to their experiences in a classroom setting, students are afforded a “Job Shadowing” opportunity that introduces them to the world of business and bridges their classroom instruction. At the conclusion of the Institute, students are more knowledgeable about career possibilities within business and financial services. Additionally, their interaction with positive role models and accomplished professionals will have challenged their strategic thinking.
In the future, the Foundation may launch additional educational and/or scholarship programs to further these ideals, as well as expand the Financial Futures Youth Institute to include other regions within the United States.
